Watchful Inferno

Watchful Inferno is a sculpture made of mostly recycled materials. The dragon was made out of cardboard, newspaper, masking tape, hot glue, and scrap metal. My vision for the piece is to make it feel proud and protective like gargoyles that are often seen in old gothic architecture.

 

The base was sculpted using packed newspaper and masking tape. The cut scales were laid one at a time, creating the overlap effect. See the progress video below.
